Lib Tech co-founder Mike Olson has dedicated most of his life to surfing and shaping. Born in the Pacific Northwest in the era of marginal wetsuits, snowboards were a must in the winter, but spring, summer, and fall, surfboards were priority number one. With no surf shops in the home state, DIY creativity was a must and initial snowboard production efforts were financed with surfboard shapes. As Lib Tech snowboards grew, Mike’s access and experience with materials grew steadily. Today he thrives in Mervin’s experiMENTAL design kitchen. The last 30 years have been dedicated to building a better surfboard…better process, better materials, better board…stronger, more environmentally friendly, reproducible, customizable. Lib Tech Waterboards are environmentally nicer and dang difficult to ding.
